My A10 is a little deferent. It has 2, 1K resistors in parallel with a 220uf/63v cap coming off pin 1-8, of the EL34 to ground. I’m thinking the Mods would give a much larger voltage swing across the EL34 Tube. Is my thinking correct? I’m trying to learn as I go.

@SimonP Im having trouble finding the ground post for the phono amp. Did you assemble it for different parts? Any help would be appreciated

@SimonP Thanks for letting us no about your Phono Stage. I’m in the process of building one myself. I noticed the power cable inlet with the on/off switch built in. I have one ordered an waiting of it to come in. (Thanks for that) I have the fab work done an the board completed. Thanks for your input on the volume knob, I’m going to leave it out for now. As for speakers I’m no expert but I did have a speaker business for meany years. It was mainly fiberglass for boats an off-road vehicles. It’s been my experience with tube amps you need very efficient speakers. Most of these very expensive high end speaker cabinets are not worth the money to put it politely. I’m experimenting with mounting some old 1950 something speakers on a board, Open Baffle, I’m still tweaking with the measurements but I’m on to something very good

Looks very good. Let us know how it sounds after you get it burnt in. I was thinking of putting a volume knob on the one I’m building, but I’m not sure what pot to get or how to wire it up

Love those horns. With the voice of the theatre you have setup, I don’t think you would be satisfied with anything less. You have shown me that it can be done in a smaller room. Dam-it lol. @roblund7 I was looking at the Lii Audio 15s, the price kinda threw me off to be honest I know they would sound good. I got a great deal on the zenith speakers, I really don’t think he knew what he had. As far as the Voigt Pipes go, yes they are tall an heavy. I’m going to put castors on the bottom of mine so I can move them around more easily. I do enjoy listening to the music they put out.

@Skunkie Im getting ready to try a Full Range Open Baffle speaker. I got the idea from (Glow In The Dark Audio) . I was able to find 2 Zenith 496z 852 speakers on eBay. They will be very easy to build. One 3/4x4x8 sheet of plywood. This speaker system has somewhat of a cult following. I’m going to find out what all the fuss is about. 😎 I’ll give ya a full report

@roblund7 I used 3/4 inch baltic Birch plywood an lined the cabinets with 1/4 inch standard plywood if I were to do it again I would use 3/4 inch Cheery faced plywood

Hey @roblund7 , I used the design from Teck Ingredients YouTube channel I followed it about as close possible. I used Flex Seal to glue the 1/4 inch liner in the speakers I’m not sure that’s even necessary. They do sound great though I used Tang Band w8 1772 full range speakers But I’m sure a Dayton full range speaker would sound good also I think you could make these speakers out of cardboard and they would sound good. Those guys in The Golden Age of Audio sure new what they were doing

@Robby’s Music Robby they sound better than I could ever hoped for. They sound so good I’m kinda at a standstill. I don’t want to stop using them long enough to put a finish on them. Im kind of leaning towards a veneer. If I was to do again I would use Cheery Plywood. I used 3/4 inch Baltic Birch for the strength . I’m not sure that was necessary, but they do sound great !!!

That’s a nice Amp. I would love to build the 300B you designed. The problem I have is, I have to many hobbies. Cars, wood working. Side x Side riding, an that’s just the start lol. I guess I can start getting the parts together a little at a time without my wife throwing a Fit lol. Love your Channel, it may take a little while, but your going to do very well at this. I’ve been self employed, an in business my whole life. I know success when I see it. There’s no substitute for HARD work. Stay Safe out there !

Hey Simon. I’m in the process of building the phono stage also. I had a little trouble getting the caps, but they seem to be back in stock now. I have the boards completed. The chassis an transformers should be here this week. I went a little overboard on the caps in the audio signal chain, but at the time it was all I could get. 2 (Miflex 1.0uf 600v) an 2(Miflex 0.15uf 600v pp+oil, 5%) yes they are BIG but I think I can make them work. I’m new at this, but Ive serviced my own guitar tube amps over the year. Changed caps, cleaning pots on so on. I’m looking forward to seeing your build. Always have fun an stay safe. Pics to come!
