I'd get 1pr. shielded.

Yes - 2 steps forward 1 step back. something must not have been making a good connection - I'd double check with your ohm meter rca jacks to the board - reading 0 ohms and make sure a strand in the cable is not shorting it out. If that all looks good time for another tube pin voltage check.

try connecting the shield on all 4 cables to the white wire on the board side only.

I can't tell by your pic as it's not too clear - with the purple sheild cables do you have the stranded shield in the cable connected to the white wire? If so what end is it connected?

Is the hum there with nothing plugged in or only when you connect your turntable? Does your turntable have a Ground connection lug on the back? Is the hum both channels?

Well that good news - it was a long journey. The hum is only between tracks and not there any other times? Does your turntable have a ground connection on it. I have not watched Skunkie's DYI video on this - did you do all the grounding just as she has done it?

Tube 1 pin 8 - quessing this is the 2.2K resistor (or the one above it). Also your pic is not clear- make sure the copper ground trace is making a good connection as in the picture- it looks like it might be lifted up some?

Tube 2 pin 1 voltages should look like this. how are measuring these voltages- on the back here or with a socket adaptor on top? Did you run seperate wires to the tube sockets on top?if so that might be where the problem lies. Also make sure the bottom of that resistor lead is not touching that copper trace.

Got me thinking - how are you doing the wiring to tube sockets on top? Are you running separate wires to a top socket? if so maybe the problem might be there? Looking at the picture I posted should be about 125v - are you measuring here on the back or up on the top with a tube adaptor?

top of this resistor should be about 125v or so and going to pin 1 EDIT- Iam not sure on here which is pin 1? if the tube socket was meant to mount on this side of the board then this is not pin 1 - the 1st pic was correct then and not this one.

Hang on a min. I was looking at that pic wrong .. pin 1 is the other side ... here's the resistor you need to check. make sure the top of this 330K resistor is not touching that copper trace - the top of this resistor should read 0 ohms to pin 1 tube 2

1st off on Tube 1 pin 8 is going thru a 2.2K to ground and that appears it's not. I'd reflow solder on that 2.2K resistor (Red-Red-Red) tube 1 loooked good before?. 2nd looks like you still don't have that plate voltage on Tube 2 pin 1. Check that same resistor that was circled before- with it Unplugged check with your ohm meter - the bottom of that resistor to tube 2 pin 1 should read 0 ohms.

One other question .. rolling tubes do you have a spare 12ax7 tube? or just rolling the 3 around? If one 1/2 of the triode tube is bad on one tube rolling the 3 won't resolve it. You should have a spare tube and use it one at a time in the 3 slots.

yes that way we can compare right channel with left .. just need pins 1,2,3,6,7,8 pins 1-3 for one channel and pins 6-8 will be the other channel

i quess it's time to take all the voltages on the tube pins again- the bias might be off on one side.

if it were me I'd just re-heat at hit all the solder joints as you probably already compared all the components on the top of the board - 1 channel with the bottom - the other channel so all the values are probably correct and the same for each channel- so more than likely a bad solder joint.

Well that's great news it's working - with the lower volume issue I'd try to roll tubes to see if follows the tube - if not I'd take voltage reading on the tube pins again to check biasing
