Color preamp

Here is how I'm rocking with Skunkie Designs.

Used lowest-priced parts to build. Sounds very good. First time ever electronic build. First to tube listening other than mom's old am table radio. My setup is the Tascam Profesional cd-400u , with am/fm tuner ,sd, sdhc,

usb, bluetooth playback connected to Skunkie Designs Color pre-amp with ge 12au7 's nos tubes and

Electo-harmonix 6ca4 new rectifier tube. Into the

Fossi audio v3 stereo amp to Cervin Vega E715 speakers 400 watts RMS with a a frequency response of 26Hz-20kHz and a sensitivity of 102 dB @ 2.83V. Very clean and crisp with a good raspy kinda sound. I've got the input pre-amp pot's at max. Ouput pre-amp pot turned down to adjustment for the Fossi audio v3 stereo amp.

I keep the Fossi volume about 12 o'clock

Hi all

What about adding a tube

spring reverb to something”

Great idea!

The logical place for that option would have to be the Color preamp

That said.. how involved would such an additional circuit be? I’d * think .. not half as involved/ extra parts as the preamp itself

Would likely require a larger case.

I’d be very interested in a package like that

Could be especially appealing to a lot of guitarists

Richard

Hello all and new to the group.

I am very fortunate to have an old friend of the family starting to teach me in building amps. Walter, my teacher, owner of SAR Labs in Winnipeg. Well known for over 60 years in the audio industry. Designing and hand building all kinds of equipment. Walter’s main signature design are mosfet amps.

The pictures shows my second point to point wiring project, a design of Walter’s. It was fun to design and great to listen too. Still tweaking with tubes and feedback loop in the design. Sorry, I don’t have permission to share his schematic. I probably can’t answer any really technical questions either.

Hope the link works.

Reissong A12 / A10 Classy Pao Ferro Wood plinth

Something I had been pondering for a long time, years actually, finally became reality this September. My A10, sounding gorgeous after my Skunkie schematics circuit update, to my eyes looked a little too blingy, with all shiny stainless steel. I wanted that serious botique-build look with wooden sides, like the super expensive japanese ones... A youtube video with a guy making a fixture for a common handheld planer, making it able to precision plane wood, kicked me off. Pao Ferro wood for making guitar fretboards, bought from Aliexpress, became the candidate.

Reissong A12 / A10 Remote volume control 2021

Hi everyone. I bought my 1st tube amplifier ever ( I born in 1963 ) in December 2020, a Reissong A10 directly from China- HiFi ( = A12 but 6N2 driver tubes ). After successfully rebuilding it according to Skunkie´s schematics, I decided to install remote volume control. I bought a remote volume control from Aliexpress, 100k resistance, just like the one in pict below.

It is very crowded and cramped just behind the original volume pot, and the Aliexpress motorized remote pot is rather bulky, so there had to be some engineering work done to install it. I realize this build may not be for everyone, but possibly someone would like to try it out, and then I could give som hints on details of my own installation.

After quite some tinkering, it all worked, and it was really rewarding.
