I’m currently looking for a good output transformer for an amplifier project and would appreciate some expert advice.
Specifically, I’d like to know:
What key specifications or features should I pay attention to when choosing an output transformer in the budget/mid-range sector?
Which manufacturers offer the best value for money in this price range?
Are there any Chinese brands worth considering that perform well without breaking the bank?
Did the ultimate 2a3 deluxe amp with the ISO FC-30 transformer ever get built? Did anybody build this amp? The transformer shoot-out showed such good performance from the FC-30 that it makes me curious how such an amp would sound. I’m thinking about building one but I’d love to hear what someone else has to say of the sound produced by this ultimate build. I’m referring to a version with the silver wires, Horizon or EML tubes, RCA drivers, and maybe the alternate rectifier tube. If anyone knows anything concerning the performance of the FC-30 output transformers I’d like to hear what you have to say.

I've built my personal 2A3 with both FC30 and FC12 and at the power level of this amp, I honestly couldn't tell much if any difference, so even my personal amp I went back to FC12S transformers and saving the FC30 for a 300B build. Spend that money to get solid plate EML tubes, I tried the mesh plate 300B 2.5 EML and wasn't impressed. On the rectifier, the 5V4 is what I use as well, not sure where you got the 5U4 was an upgrade?

Stephe's x7 review convinced me about getting one as my first try to returning to the tube world after 45 years (since I built a tube amp). However I have two questions that you may be able to answer given your huge and invaluable experience. I apologize for asking something that is obviously so subjective but I was hopping the measurable (objective) lessons you have learned may be able to generate a couple of answers :
1. If you had to pick a pre-amp for the X7, what would be some recommendations? Or, a link that discusses this. The dishonest full of garbage jungle that web has become is very unpleasant for me.
2. Have you heard any other amp that has made you happier than the X7?

Glad to hear about the SP14! I will certainly include it in my short list! BTW your builds look beautiful and sound great per your description of absolute silence ;) !!! Regarding the Enyo 15t DAC, can you say anything about the quality of the audio from the HDMI coming from you streaming sources? I have never used a DAC to feed my pathetic integrated (Denon) amp /receiver because there is no point in feeding a good signal in a bad final stage, but i plan to replace my entire audio chain and my questions and your answers are helping me make some low -risk/reasonable decisions.
