Hi all, I am looking for a recommendation on which tube amp to build. I have a pair of KG4's (4ohms each) and would like to build an amp that is versatile. I would like a tube rectifier. Was thinking of building the EL84/6SQ7 amp from Skunkie design or the KT88 amp from Blue Glow. Which one sounds better ? Advantages of each? Also, looking for a source of quality output transformers that allow for 4 ohm and 8 ohm taps on the secondary. Any thoughts welcomed. Thanks! Mike

I built the blueglow amp and while it sounds good, Like Oakmountainman, I disassembled it to build a 300B amp and that 6SQ7/EL34 amp does sound REALLY sweet.
I think because you have some very efficient Klipsch speakers you couldn't go wrong with either of these two designs of tube amp. Two to three watts per channel will make most Klipsch speakers (and the KG4s especially) SING LOUDLY. In my amp builds (so far), I like the 300B and 211 SE tube amps the best with my Klipsch Cornwalls. I like vocals, Jazz, Classical and Rock music. I built the Blueglow KT88 amp, but I have dismantled it. I just wasn't impressed enough with the KT88s wired in a Single Ended amp design. I will repurpose the Blueglow iron to build the Skunkie 300B amp sometime in the future.
