Hi there, first to thank you for all you videos and knowledge that you share with us !
I love watching them, learning so much.
I’m planning to build 300b from stuff that i already have laying around,
and have a few questions if you can please help me ?
First those tantalum capacitors,do they need to be tantalum ?
Balance pot, could i get away with matched pair of 51 ohm resistors ?
Also could i get it done with solid state full bridge rectifier for B+(have transformer) and in your opinion how would that influence sound ?
Thank you so much and kind regards from Down Under
Thankks for reply
I’ve seen quite a few of those tantalum caps goes out with a bang,so not to keen on them.
For balance pot,i’m not trynig to penny pinch on 3 dollar pot, just would like amp to be “”setting free”
And for transformer,i have few around that i was thinking to use,i’ll see about that
Thanks again
Yes they do have to be tantalum according to the data sheet. Yes you can use a matched pair of resistors. You can use a SS rectifier if you nail the voltages, no idea how it will influence the sound.
