Greetings from Australia. About me: After completing an automotive technicians (motor mechanic) apprenticeship in 1986, I immediately got out of that industry and entered into my cities (Canberra) major industry - the civil service. I spent the next 21 years working in the cataloguing section of the ACT Public Library Service. When that section was out-sourced, I moved across into my states newly established government archives for the next 10 years until my retirement.I have been into HiFi for around 30 years but I have never been able to afford really high end gear yet have managed to get high quality audio on a modest budget. I only recently dove into the world of tube amplifiers purchasing a Willsenton R8 last year. The recent R8 videos were my introduction to Skunkie Designs and I am learning quite a lot from them. Why did I get an R8? I was planning on getting one of Bob Carver's new tube amplifiers as I have an affinity with his gear having used his M200t and A-753x amplifiers in the past. My current solid state amplifier is a Sunfire TGA-7401 that to my ears sounds amazing. However, while I was waiting for the new Bob Carver Corp to start building amplifiers, the lack of reviews, the currency exchange rates and potential import duties priced them out of reach for me so I settled on the R8.
